I was born in Bristol, UK, in 1965, but now live in Leicestershire, in the English Midlands with my partner Sophie and four cats. After studying at Loughborough College of Art and Design, I became a freelance artist and illustrator in 1988. Having always specialised in painting birds and animals, it seemed natural to add pet portraits to my repertoire, and I have been regularly painting cats and dogs for clients since 2003. My original wildlife art website had a pet portraits section, but I always suspected that a lot of people weren’t finding it, so I decided to set up this site just for the pet paintings.
Most of my earlier pet portraits were painted in gouache and watercolour, but I now paint exclusively in acrylics, as I find these even better for painting the texture of fur and feathers.
